Two keen walkers from Scotland have climbed an impressive 17,601 feet to Base Camp of Mount Everest to raise funds for Diabetes UK.

Sarah Marchbank from Edinburgh completed the epic Himalayan trek in 18 days in memory of her sister, Emma, who died of Type 1 diabetes complications three years ago. While Brian Thomson from Hamilton has been inspired to successfully complete his fifth challenge on behalf of the charity by his 17 year old daughter Hayley who was diagnosed with Type 1 when she was six.

Diabetes Scotland calling for increased provision of psychological support for people with diabetes.

New research released today, World Diabetes Day, by Diabetes UK has found that the majority of people living with diabetes in Scotland experience emotional or mental health problems as a result of their condition.

If you're diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, you will undoubtedly have questions and may feel overwhelmed by all the information that's out there.

We're creating an education pack for people who are newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  Our aim is to provide all the information a person may need in an easy-to-read guide which can be kept and used when required.

Scotland international and Crystal Palace FC midfielder James McArthur is encouraging fans, particulalry men, to find out their risk of type 2 diabetes.

The former Hamilton Accies and Wigan Athletic player from Glasgow’s East End is supporting our Know Your Risk initiative and took part in a photoshoot to support the campaign.

The results of a new survey released forDiabetes Weekhas found that strawberries are Scotland’s favourite fruit with 20 per cent of the public vote. The accolade of favourite vegetable goes to broccoli (18 per cent).

Braden Collins, a schoolboy from St Mary’s Loch in the Scottish Borders, has just completed a challenge to spend a whole year sleeping in a tent.

Ten-year-old Braden wanted to raise money for Diabetes UK and decided to commit to a year of sleeping out to achieve his goal. He camped in the back garden last year on his Mum’s birthday, and hasn’t slept in the house since.

The Aberdeen Student Festival, organised by Events Management students at Robert Gordon University (RGU), has raised £5125 for charity.  The money will be evenly split between Diabetes UK and Erskine.

Ahead of the Scottish council elections, Diabetes Scotland is calling for candidates to have a greater awareness and understanding of diabetes and the impact it has on people, communities and our NHS.

Following a successful bid to The Big Lottery Fund, a new project is being launched in Scotland to provide young people with Type 1 diabetes the opportunity to develop and deliver innovative youth-

We are now recruiting 30 Young Leaders aged 16-25 from all over Scotland to be part of the project.  We will support these young volunteers to develop new skills, create and engage in activities with peers, and raise wider awareness of Type 1 diabetes.
