Life's a walk in the park - during Diabetes Week at least!


Staff from the South West regional office put on their best walking boots on to join local group volunteers and supporters to get out and about, enjoy the sunshine and get walking to celebrateDiabetes Week2017, Sunday 11 June to Saturday 17 June. 

Their aim was to promote the benefits ofexercise and healthy lifestylein managing diabetes, and delaying or preventing the onset of Type 2 diabetes.

Annika Palmer, Diabetes UK South West Regional Head, said ‘the theme of Diabetes Week is Know Diabetes, Fight Diabetes, and we want everyone to know that walking is a really good way to keep fit and manage diabetes, and it’s important to fight against inactivity which is increasing the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes’.

Bridget Clark of theTaunton Support Groupsaid that the walk was a great way for the group to explore the local area, relax and spend time together in a friendly and social setting.
