Anthony Fisher was one of a team of 60 runners with the condition to complete this year's Swansea Half Marathon, helping us into the record books for the most number of people with Type 1 diabetes to run a half marathon.

The event is for all ages and is aimed at helping to raise awareness among young people. There will be plenty of information from Diabetes UK available on the night.

According to the latest statistics, the number of people diagnosed with diabetes in the South West has now reached 299,299.

Rebecca Rawle, 12, and Maddy Miller, 13, nicknamed Boo and Moo, set out to take on the Welsh 3 Peaks during February to raise money for Diabetes UK children’s and families local group Supporting Kernow’s Young Diabetics, based in Truro.

North Devon local group chair Lyn Hill and committee member Brenda Shute were joined by Diabetes UK South West team members Verity McLelland and Gemma Jackson who presented the awards on 19 February during the group’s monthly meeting.
