Inspirational group member Ieuan Lewis, 88, was presented with a special award to acknowledge almost 50 years as part of our Llanelli Local Support Group.
Ieuan and his wife, Delma, joined the group in 1970, shortly after she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes aged 37.
Delma sadly passed away in 2000 but Ieuan has continued to play an active role in the group.
He visits local schools to talk to them about fundraising for Diabetes UK Cymru and the group has a monthly fundraising stand at the Meurig Williams Diabetes Centre, Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli.
Ieuan was presented with his award by our Volunteer Support Officer, Emily Beach.
Margaret Ruzzak, the chair of the Llanelli Local Support Group, said,
“Ieuan is an inspiration to the group. He is a very humble and modest but is always willing to do anything he can to help us. It was lovely to reward all his hard work with this special award.”
