Correction - misprints in Diabetes Update and Balance

Please note that the insulin wall chart included as an insert in the latest issue of Diabetes Update contains a number of misprints. The misprints are also contained in the insulin chart on page 12 of the ‘Balance guide to testing and treating’, inserted in the Jan/Feb 2007 issue of Balance'.

The chart wrongly lists Apidra, manufactured by Sanofi-Aventis, as a short-acting insulin when it is in fact a rapid-acting analogue insulin. Apidra’s duration of action should also be marked as lasting up to four hours.

The chart also omits the indication for the peak action of Hypurin Bovine Lente, a long-acting insulin produced by Wockhardt UK. The telephone number for Wockhardt UK given in the chart is also incorrect. This should read 01978 661261.

Diabetes UK will be reprinting an amended copy of the wall chart in the next issue of Diabetes Update and you can find a link on the right to download the corrected wall chart as a PDF document.

Diabetes UK would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to our readers.
