Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in memory of Amy

Mark Lownes is supporting Diabetes UK by undertaking the 23.5 mile walk in memory of his sister, Amy Stephenson, who had diabetes and died last December.

The walk will cover three of the highest peaks in the region and usually takes between 8-13 hours to complete. Mark and 11 other hikers, including friends and family, will walk over Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough peaks in Yorkshire.

Amy had Type 1 Diabetes for more than 10 years and developed a number of diabetes-related conditions including kidney disorder. She also had an endocrine disorder called Addison’s disease.

Deeply missed

“She was a very loving, generous, bubbly and beautiful person who was larger than life and is deeply missed by her family and friends”, said Mark.

He decided to raise money for Diabetes UK and help increase awareness of the condition after seeing how much diabetes affects not just those with diabetes but also their family and friends.

Help the cause

The hikers are hoping to raise £2,000 for Diabetes UK. For more information or to make a donation please visit
