Dinesh successfully chosen to represent Diabeteology and Endocrinology at the Royal College of Physicians

Diabetes UK has recently jointly nominated a Council member for the Royal College of Physicians – representing the joint specialities of diabetes and endocrinology.

Following on from the three year tenure of Professor John Wass who is an endocrinologist, it was now time to choose a Diabeteologist. The process of choosing the right person brought together Diabetes UK, the Association of British Clinicians in Diabetes and the Society of Endocrinology to represent the interests of all three organisations.

Dinesh Nagi, a consultant with Pinderfield Hospital in Wakefield, will now represent all three bodies. Dinesh is currently Meetings Secretary for ABCD and has worked on the Education Committee of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), his research work included working in America with indigenous communities.

Simon O’Neill, Director of Policy, Care and Intelligence at Diabetes UK said, “Dinesh has been a great supporter of ABCD and Diabetes UK and will be a great asset in his new role.”

Professor John Wass, past Chairman of the Society for Endocrinology and RCP academic vice-president said, “I’m very pleased to be handing over to Dr Nagi as the representative for diabetes and endocrinology. His expertise in these joint specialties will serve him well.”

Candidates for this position are put forward by ABCD/Diabetes UK and the Society for Endocrinology on alternate terms, in recognition of the joint specialties. It is made on this occasion by ABCD/Diabetes UK and supported by the Society for Endocrinology.

The Society for Endocrinology is UK’s largest national organisation promoting endocrinology and hormone awareness. For general information, please visit our
