Last chance to sign the petition for the Diabetes UK Children’s Charter

Children across the UK have been gathering support for the Diabetes UK Children’s Charter, calling for equal access to treatment, high quality medical care and excellent support in schools.

One dedicated young campaigner is 10 year old Findley Scrivener from Lincolnshire who has single-handedly gathered 150 signatures for the petition at his school. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 17 months, Finn has been on an insulin pump since the age of four after his family pushed for a referral to another county to get the treatment.

Finn is very happy with the support from his school and took part in an assembly to raise awareness of diabetes. His mum, Marie, says, “It was really positive and promoted lots of discussion and awareness with the parents and pupils of the school.”

We have now collected more than 5,000 signatures from online and printed petitions. Over the next few weeks Diabetes UK is urging as many more people as possible to add their support and show Government and decision-makers that they have to act on the Children’s Charter and ensure that young people with diabetes have a better future.

A Diabetes UK delegation will present the petition to 10, Downing Street in the Spring.

Please show your support for children with diabetes.
