With Christmas now over and the new year just beginning, you may be thinking about what's happened over the past year and perhaps even making some healthier changes for 2014.To support you with any healthy adjustments you may be taking, our new online healthy cooking video series is packed full of top tips, advice and ideas to help you on your way.In addition, we've put together a visual display of everything Diabetes UK - with the help of our supporters - has achieved in 2013. New healthy cooking video series

Eating and drinking too much over the festive season is part and parcel of Christmas and with 2013 now gone, the new year is a perfect time to make some small changes and take a healthier approach to eating.With this in mind, Diabetes UK has produced a series of four healthy cooking videos aimed at helping you make a few adjustments while cooking either at home or on the move.With some simple changes, you can reduce your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, as well as being an important part of effectively managing both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.The diet recommended for people with diabetes is the same healthy diet recommended to everyone - it should be low in fat, salt and sugar with plenty of fruit and vegetables, and alcohol should be drunk in moderation and with care.

Our online video series looks at ‘cooking with less fat’, ‘adapting recipes’, ‘planning ahead’ (including taking a look at your weekly shop), and ‘healthy lunch box ideas’.If you need some guidance to help you get back on track, take a look at our eating well section, packed full of useful steps and advice on how to revamp your diet and help you make better food choices for 2014.
