New one-day event for GPs that want to improve diabetes care

Diabetes UK and the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) are developing an event designed to give GPs the skills and knowledge to improve diabetes services.

The event will be hosted at the College on 16 January, 9 am–4 pm. The day will also launch a diabetes clinical network, which will provide the platform for further engagement with GPs and other health professional colleagues at local and national level.

The event will:

• Bring together GPs with an interest in diabetes to galvanise change• Take stock of the experience of GPs working through the new healthcare structures and mechanism and explore how GPs are able to influence commissioning/change services• Explore commissioning best practice for diabetic foot care, including looking at how patients should move through the system• Establish a model for service redesign in primary care to support the delivery of quality healthcare for diabetes• Develop an understanding of what the National Diabetes Audit can tell GPs and how to use it.

The day will feature presentations from national leaders in the field of diabetes as well as opportunities for practical skills development and service redesign. It is an opportunity to be part of a strong national network of GPs who are improving diabetes services in their localities.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. To register your place visit response form. For questions contactcirc@rcgp.org.uk
