MODIFYing risk of complications in people with type 2

MODIFY: Longitudinal Assessment of Multiple Organs in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Researchers in Liverpool, London and Oxford would like to recruit 150 people across England who are over the age of 18 and living with type 2 diabetes, treated with oral diabetes medication or insulin, to a study called MODIFY.

MODIFY aims to better understand how type 2 diabetes affects organs, like the liver, kidneys and pancreas, and to find out how this changes over time and is impacted by changes in blood glucose or body weight. The research team hope this can help us find better ways to spot people who have a high risk of developing diabetes complications. 

Volunteers will be asked to attend a screening visit and three further study visits over nine months.The second and third visit will involve having a MRI scan, completing a medical history and other health questionnaires and providing blood and urine samples.
