About Diabetes UK research

Diabetes UK is the leading UK charity for people with diabetes.

To achieve our mission to improve the lives of people with diabetes and work towards a future without diabetes, research is essential and therefore at the heart of our work.

At any given time, hundreds of Diabetes UK-funded researchers are engaged in projects committed to improving the care and treatment of diabetes, preventing it from developing in those at risk and, ultimately, finding a cure.

Diabetes UK supports a range of research funding schemes including project grants, funding to purchase laboratory equipment and research-training opportunities ranging from PhD Studentships to research fellowships aimed at clinicians and scientists at different stages in their careers. Read more about our range of funding schemes.

In 2012 we aim to invest £5.8m in diabetes research.
