Understanding Diabetes Burnout

Researchers at the University of Bristol would like to recruit adults (aged 18 years and over) living with type 1 diabetes in the UK to take part in a study exploring diabetes burnout and the wider experiences of living with type 1 diabetes. We want to better understand the psychological, social and biological factors associated with diabetes burnout, which can involve feelings of exhaustion, detachment from diabetes care, and a sense of losing control. Importantly, you do not need to have experienced diabetes burnout to take part. We want to hear from people with all types of experiences of living with type 1 diabetes.

Taking part involves completing an online survey about your experiences of living with type 1 diabetes, wellbeing, social support and diabetes management. Some participants may also have the opportunity to take part in a second stage of the study involving a simple at-home cheek swab to help researchers explore potential biological factors associated with diabetes burnout.
