Costs related to research taking place in the NHS
If your study is proposed to be conducted within the NHS or Health and Social Care, you might be incurring Excess Treatments Costs (ETCs) or NHS Support Costs - these costs are the responsibility of the NHS.
If you are applying for Diabetes UK funding for a study taking place in the NHS, you will need to submit the signed off SoECAT as part of your online application. For any queries, please contact research@diabetes.org.uk.
The Schedule of Events Cost Attribution Tool (SoECAT)
The Schedule of Events Cost Attribution Tool (SoECAT) is a tool for use with non-commercial research studies in the four UK nations. Its primary purpose is to ensure that site-level costs are appropriately attributed to AcoRD principles at the time of application for research funding and hence to ensure that site-level Research Costs are met via that funding.
The SoECAT is obtainable via the NIHR Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS). Guidance for the completion of the SoECAT is present in the online tool to assist at each page and stage of the application process. Further support is available on the NIHR website: Online SoECAT Guidance | NIHR.
Where can i get more advice or support?
AcoRD Specialists at NIHR Local Clinical Research Networks (LCRNs) are available to support researchers, their teams and Sponsors in completing and authorising the completes SoECAT. To get in touch with an AcoRD specialist, contact the Lead CRN for the study (usually the LCRN where the lead investigator/lead site is based.
