Hello. Have you just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes?
Type 1 diabetes means your blood sugar is too high because your body has stopped making a hormone called insulin.
You probably have lots of questions – and your healthcare team will be able to give you lots of advice about insulin and your blood glucose. We also have some information about that too.
But you might have lots of other questions – what about explaining this to people in school or work? What difference does it make to ordinary life? Can you still do all the things you like to do?
This page is for you, to help you get what you really need right now.
There are also links to Diabetes UK’s Together Type 1 community, full of people aged 11-25 years old who live with type 1 and won’t let it stop them from living their best life.
