Specsavers stores raised a fantastic £104,000 for Diabetes UK in June.
The leading high street opticians marked Diabetes Week (8-15 June) by making a donation for every sight test carried out during the month and organising fundraising events from pub quizzes to cycling challenges.
Diabetes UK is Specsavers’ charity of the year for the second year running. Last year the hugely successful partnership raised more than £150,000 in total to help people living with diabetes and retinopathy. This year we have been raising awareness of the importance of sight tests in detecting early signs of diabetes.
“This fantastic achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of Specsavers’ staff," Douglas Smallwood, Diabetes UK’s Chief Executive.
"The commitment they have shown in helping people with diabetes and reaching out to those who are at risk is immensely valued.
“The funds raised will go towards projects which will make a real difference to the lives of people with diabetes in communities across the UK.”
