Andy Kliman, 36, was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in May 2009.
Andy has chosen to share his experience online - you can read his blog on our website. Andy’s story is a good example of what someone can go through when they are suddenly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
Although Andy (pictured) suspected that he could have developed the condition when he started feeling thirsty all the time in January 2009, he was still shocked when his GP confirmed he had Type 2 diabetes.
Andy now recognises that his lifestyle might have contributed to him developing the condition and since his diagnosis he has improved his diet and has become more physically active.
Commenting on how he is coping a few months after his diagnosis Andy says: “I feel I have some of the information I need to cope - not all, but some. I've talked about it with friends and I've taken up exercise and healthy eating and feel so much better for it. It's just that constant nagging frustration that I'll have to live with for the rest of my life - what if I'd made those changes a year or two ago?”
Andy’s blog is often thought-provoking and always entertaining. When following Andy’s blog you can also post your comments and share your own thoughts with Andy and other people with diabetes.
