What's it all about?

It's a new initiative aimed at connecting us with people who are personally impacted by diabetes to shape the work and decisions of the charity. We're on a mission to empower all diabetes-affected communities to take action and make a difference.

Our goals:

  • Active involvement by people with lived experience in our activities.
  • Influencing positive change.
  • Sharing in the decision-making process.
  • Representing diverse diabetes affected communities.
  • Bringing about impactful change.

Who can join?

Anyone whose life has been touched by diabetes or is at risk can join. Your personal experiences and willingness to contribute are what we value most.

Hear from a member of Diabetes CiA:

"I enjoy being involved with Communities in Action as I feel like I make a difference to others with diabetes.

The way CiA is set up is great, I can find opportunities through the regular email updates or through the Assemble app that fit around my busy lifestyle of working full time and studying for a masters.

I would recommend joining CiA if you live with diabetes, or support someone who does.

It's so important that everyone with or affected by diabetes is represented and being a Communities in Action member is the perfect way to do that."

What will you be doing?

  • Using your experiences to inform and influence our work.
  • Discovering and exploring a range of opportunities to get involved in those that align with your interests and expertise.
  • Choosing your level of involvement as you have the flexibility to decide how involved you want to be and what activities you want to participate in.
  • Connect with others by engaging with us, healthcare professionals and other people affected by or at risk of diabetes.

How we'll stay in touch with you:

  • Regular monthly round ups on news, available roles, material reviews, fresh ideas, and surveys.
  • Quarterly involvement newsletter with updates on the impact of Diabetes Communities in Action.

While Diabetes Communities in Action is an online network, we are committed to expanding and exploring new communication channels to reach even more individuals. Together we will create a brighter future for all affected by diabetes.
