One Million Step Challenge 2021 - Fundraising Incentive Terms and Conditions

Your chance to earn rewards for your fundraising efforts.

There are three prizes on offer:

  1. First donation received by 11.59pm, 31 October 2021 qualifies you to receive a One Million Step Challenge shoe lace charm (Diabetes UK has a maximum of 17,000 shoe lace charms available)
  2. £35+ by 11.59pm, 31 October 2021 qualifies you to receive a One Million Step Challenge medal (Diabetes UK has a maximum of 15,000 medals available)
  3. £100+ by 11.59pm, 31 October 2021 qualifies you to receive a One Million Step Challenge key ring (Diabetes UK has a maximum of 5,000 keyrings available)
  4. £200+ by 11.59pm, 31 October 2021 qualifies you to receive a One Million Step Challenge branded t-shirt (Diabetes UK has a maximum of 2,500 t-shirts available)
  5. £650+ by 11.59pm, 31 October 2021 qualifies you to receive a One Million Step Challenge branded trophy (Diabetes UK has a maximum of 500 trophies available).

One Million Step Challenge incentives

1. Diabetes UK is giving away:

1.1 a One Million Step Challenge shoelace charm to the first 17,000 One Million Step Challenge participants who receive their first donation through their One Million Step Challenge fundraising by 11:59pm, 31 October 2021

1.2 a One Million Step Challenge Medal to the first 15,000 One Million Step Challenge participants to raise £35 or more through their One Million Step Challenge fundraising by 11:59pm on 31 October 2021

1.3 a One Million Step Challenge keyring to the first 5,000 One Million Step Challenge participants who raise more than £100 or more through their One Million Step Challenge fundraising by 11:59pm on 31 October 2021

1.4 a One Million Step Challenge t-shirt to the first 2,500 One Million Step Challenge participants who raise more than £200 or more through their One Million Step Challenge fundraising by 11:59pm on 31 October 2021

1.5 a One Million Step Challenge trophy to the first 500 One Million Step Challenge participants who raise more than £650 or more through their One Million Step Challenge fundraising by 11:59pm on 31 October 2021

1.6 For the remainder of these Terms and Conditions, these are referred to as the “Free Gifts”.

2. Participants who have opted-out of receiving prizes will not qualify and will not receive a prize.

3. To qualify for a Free Gift, you must be a registered participant of the One Million Step Challenge 2021 programme, for the benefit of Diabetes UK and you must either:

3.1 Have a JustGiving profile page allocated to One Million Step Challenge 2021 to raise funds for Diabetes UK and have raised the minimum donation amount as specified above, on that page by the relevant deadline specified above; or

3.2 Have raised the minimum donation amounts, as specified above, and have sent those donation amounts to Diabetes UK at the following address: FAO One Million Step Challenge Team Diabetes UK, Wells Lawrence House, 126 Back Church Lane, London E1 1FH, along with your name and postal address, by the relevant deadline date specified above. Please note that donation amounts must be received by Diabetes UK by the relevant deadline date, in order for you to be eligible to receive a Free Gift. Any cheques must be made payable to ‘Diabetes UK’.

4. If you raise the minimum donation amount by the deadline date, we will email you to inform you of your Free Gift and send your Free Gift to the address linked to your JustGiving fundraising page, or the address provided when you send your donations by post. To opt out of receiving your Free Gift you can contact us at onemillionsteps@diabetes.org.uk

5. To sign-up for One Million Step Challenge activity you must complete the online entry form which is available on our One Million Step Challenge landing page

6. The promotion will start at 9am on 1 March 2021 and will end at 11:59pm on 31 October 2021. Any individuals that participate in the promotion outside of this period will not be eligible to receive the Free Gift. Diabetes UK accepts no responsibility for unsuccessful attempts to participate in this promotion for any reason.

7. The Free Gift is subject to availability. Diabetes UK has a maximum number of (listed below) Free Gifts to give away. Once this number of Free Gifts has been claimed and distributed, Diabetes UK shall not be obliged to give away any further or alternative gifts even where this maximum is reached prior to the above closing date. The maximum number of Free Gifts are:

7.1 17,000 One Million Step Challenge shoelace charms;

7.2 15,000 One Million Step Challenge medals; 

7.3 5,000 One Million Step Challenge keyrings.

7.4 2,500 One Million Step Challenge t-shirts.

8. The Free Gifts are non-transferable. Diabetes UK reserves the right to substitute any Free Gift for a gift of equivalent or greater value if such a substitution is necessary for reasons beyond Diabetes UK’s reasonable control.

9. This promotion is open to UK residents aged 18 and over.

10. Diabetes UK reserves the right to require any participant to prove that he or she meets the requirements to participate in this promotion.

11. The promoter of this promotion is The British Diabetic Association operating as Diabetes UK (English charity no. 215199 and Scottish charity no. SC039136) Wells Lawrence House, 126 Back Church Lane, London E1 1FH.

12. Diabetes UK reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions without notice by posting changes to the One Million Step Challenge landing page

13. Neither Diabetes UK nor any of its subsidiary or affiliated companies are responsible for any losses, failures or delays caused by events beyond its or their control such as (but not limited to) the acts or defaults of any supplier selected by Diabetes UK to provide the Free Gifts that may lead to loss or damage of the Free Gift in transit to the winner.

14. These Terms and Conditions are governed by English Law. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to hear any dispute or claim arising in association with the Free Gifts or these Terms and Conditions.

Your chance to earn a reward for registering for the One Million Step Challenge by 11:59pm 31 March 2021.

Registering enters you into a prize draw to win one of four Fitbit devices (see Prize Draw Terms and Conditions)

Prize Draw Terms and Conditions

By entering the free prize draw to win one Fitbit device (the “Prize Draw”), you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

Promoter

1. The promoter of the Prize Draw is The British Diabetic Association operating as

Diabetes UK (English charity no. 215199 and Scottish charity no. SC039136) Wells

Lawrence House, 126 Back Church Lane, London E1 1FH (“Diabetes UK”).

Entry requirements

2. Participants must be at least 18 years old to enter and legally resident in the UK.

3. Employees or contractors of Diabetes UK and their immediate families and members of

households, and anyone else connected in any way with the Prize Draw are not eligible

to take part.

4. You must be a registered participant of the One Million Step Challenge 2021.

5. Diabetes UK reserves the right to require any participant to prove that he or she meets

the entry requirements in these Terms and Conditions and is eligible to participate in the

Prize Draw.

How to Enter

6. The Prize Draw will open at 9.00am on 3 March 2021. The Prize Draw will close at

11:59pm on 31 March 2021. After this time no further entries to the Prize Draw will be

permitted.

7. Entry to the Prize Draw is free. No purchase or donation to Diabetes UK is necessary to

enter the Prize Draw.

8. To enter the Prize Draw you must register for the One Million Step Challenge at step.diabetes.org.uk

Diabetes UK accepts no responsibility for entries not received for whatever reason.

9.Entries submitted by any other means will not be accepted. Any illegible, incomplete or

fraudulent entries will be rejected. Participants may submit one entry per person only.

Prize on Offer

10.There are 4 prizes on offer, they are all Fitbit devices (valued between £70 - £100).

11.Only one prize can be won per participant in the Prize Draw.

12.The prize is non-transferable. Diabetes UK reserves the right to substitute the prize for a

prize of equivalent or greater value, or at Diabetes UK’s sole discretion, the cash value

of the prize, if this is necessary for reasons beyond Diabetes UK’s reasonable control.

13.The prize includes costs to deliver the prize to an address in the UK.

How the winner will be chosen

14.The winners of the Prize Draw will be drawn at random by computer from all complete,

eligible, properly submitted entries received before the closing date and time. The draw

will take place within three working days of the closing date.

15.The winner will be notified within 10 working days of the draw using the email address

provided on the entry form.

16.In the event that contact with a winner cannot be made within 15 working days of the

draw date or the winner is found not to meet the entry requirements in these Terms and

Conditions, Diabetes UK reserves the right to withdraw the prize entitlement and to

award the prize to another participant who will be drawn at random by computer

Publicity and Data Protection

17.By entering the Prize Draw, participants agree to have their name, county and

photograph featured in reasonable publicity relating to the Prize Draw without further

reference, payment or other compensation.

18.For one month from the closing date of the Prize Draw, we will make available on

request, information that indicates that a valid draw has taken place. Such a request can

be made by sending a letter and stamped address envelope to Stefan Antill, Diabetes

UK, Wells Lawrence House, 126 Back Church Lane, London E1 1FH. Unless the winner

has requested otherwise, this information will be the surname and county of the winner.

Diabetes UK may also have to provide details of the winner of the Prize Draw to the

Advertising Standards Authority, in the event such information is requested.

19.Diabetes UK will collect and process participants’ personal information in order to

conduct the Prize Draw and this information will be shared with Diabetes UK’s agents to

the extent necessary for the Prize Draw to be administered and the prize to be delivered

to the winners.

20.Participants’ names and other personal details from their entry to the Prize Draw will be

collected and stored by Diabetes UK and will be held in accordance with the applicable

privacy policy in place from time to time (see

Liability

21.Diabetes UK reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions without notice, by

posting changes to the following webpage:

22.Diabetes UK reserves the right to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend the Prize Draw

in whole or in part, at its sole discretion, if it believes the Prize Draw is not capable of

being conducted as specified within these Terms and Conditions or in the event of any

other cause that is beyond the reasonable control of Diabetes UK that could affect the

normal course of the Prize Draw.

23.Neither Diabetes UK nor any of its subsidiary or affiliated companies are responsible for

any losses, failures or delays caused by events beyond its or their control such as (but

not limited to) the acts or defaults of any supplier selected by Diabetes UK to provide the

prize that may lead to loss or damage of the prize in transit to the winner.

24.Save where it has been negligent, Diabetes UK will not be responsible for any damage,

loss or injury resulting from participants’ entry into the Prize Draw or their acceptance

and/or use of the prize, or for technical or difficulties of any kind that may limit or prohibit

their ability to participate in the Prize Draw. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall

in any way limit Diabetes UK’s liability for death or personal injury caused by its

negligence or any other matter where liability may not as a matter of law be limited.

25.Any participant who enters or attempts to enter the Prize Draw in a manner, which in

Diabetes UK‘s reasonable determination is contrary to these Terms and Conditions or

by its nature is unjust to other entrants may be rejected from the Prize Draw at Diabetes

UK’s sole discretion. Furthermore, where such actions have significantly impaired the

Prize Draw, Diabetes UK may, at its sole discretion, add further stages to the Prize

Draw as it deems reasonably necessary in order to resolve any problems arising as a

result of such actions.

26.All of Diabetes UK’s decisions in relation to the winner of the Prize Draw are final and

Diabetes UK will not enter into any correspondence with participants.

27. These Terms and Conditions are governed by English Law. The courts of England and

Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to hear any dispute or claim arising in association

with the Prize Draw or these Terms and Conditions.
