22 miles. 12 weeks. Your local pool. Swim towards a healthier you.
Are you ready to dive in?
Between 22 February and 22 May 2020, discover your inner channel champion by swimming 22 miles - the width of the English Channel - in your local pool, at your own pace.
Get sponsored for every length and each stroke you take will bring you closer to a healthier future - for you, and for everyone living with diabetes in the UK.
If you don’t feel ready for 22 miles, or are returning from last year, you can also choose to swim 11 or 44 miles.
Registration for Swim22 2020 will open in November, but you can register your interest now and we’ll let you know when it opens.
New exciting online fundraising platform
We have moved to a new platform where you can fundraise, track your lengths and share how your swims are going in one place. Once this is live we will share the link here.
The harm caused by diabetes
Every day, around 700 people are diagnosed with diabetes. When diabetes is not well managed it is associated with serious complications including heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputations.
How Diabetes UK makes a difference
Diabetes UK makes sure people can manage their diabetes well. We provide information, care and support for everyone affected by diabetes. Our campaigns improve lives. Our research develops new treatments, technologies and will, one day, find a cure.
The lengths you’ll go to make a difference
But there is more work to be done. We need your help to reach more of the 4.6 million people living with diabetes in the UK. Every length you complete – and every pound you raise – will get us closer to our vision of a world where diabetes can do no harm.
We hope you will take up the challenge and take great lengths for people with diabetes.
“I want to raise public awareness of how serious diabetes is and just how devastating it can be."
