Fundraising Through Facebook

Facebook Fundraising

Facebook launched its charitable giving tools within the UK in November 2017. This allows people to donate to their chosen charity or start a fundraising page, directly through Facebook. One of the benefits of this is that it allows people to donate directly to their chosen charity without having to go to a third-party website.

How do I create a page?

You can either do that by using the create fundraiser page on Facebook or by following the steps below

  • Log in to your Facebook account
  • Click Fundraisers in the left-hand menu of your main news feed
  • Click Select Charity – and select Diabetes UK
  • Decide on how much money you’d like to try and raise
  • Pick an end date for your fundraiser
  • Give your fundraiser a title, such as ‘Hannah’s birthday fundraiser for Diabetes UK!’
  • Tell your friends and family why you’ve chosen to support us
  • Pick a cover photo – you can use one of ours or upload your own
  • Click Create and invite your friends

All of the money raised for us through Facebook Fundraisers comes directly to the charity and helps to make a very real difference to those living with diabetes. Every penny you raise goes towards our care and support services, advice and guidance, and pioneering research.

Our Diabetes UK Facebook Fundraising Events

We often run challenges on Facebook that everyone is able to take part in.

This year saw many of you take part in either Jog 100k in April, 100 Push Ups in June and 60 Miles in September and there was some awesome rewards on offer such as our medals and Diabetes UK football style shirts!

Over 7,300 of you took part, which helped us to raise over £184,000!

All our work is only made possible thanks to our supporters like you who offer their time, commitment and fundraising to help us. We couldn't do this without you.

By taking part you're helping to make a real difference to the nearly five million people in the UK living with diabetes and the millions more at risk of developing type 2.

We will be back in 2024 with more Facebook Challenges, so keep an eye out!

Diabetes is relentless. So are we. Thank you.
