Taking control campaign goes viral
We marked World Diabetes Day 2015 with the launch of ourTaking Control campaign
You helped us to reach politicians and health decision makers across the UK. Our Taking Control videos, telling people what to expect from a diabetes education course, have now been watched over 350,000 times.
The Taking Control campaign calls on the NHS to make sure that everyone with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes has access to the education and support they need to manage their diabetes well. If you have been on a diabetes education course, you can still support the campaign by sharing your storywith our media team. Your experience can help us promote the value of these courses to other people living with diabetes.
At our campaign launch in Parliament, Malcom explained why diabetes education courses are so important.Â
When I was first diagnosed it had a big impact. It scared me, I thought it was the end of my life. But then I realised there were courses I could go on to understand my diabetes. For the first time I understood I could manage my life. The course taught me all the basics I needed to know. I’m so pleased we’ve launched this campaign. People should have the education to understand how to live with their diabetes
