Diabetes UK in the North West is made up of a network of staff, volunteers and healthcare professionals who support our work in the region.
With an estimatedpeople living with diabetes in the North West, of whichpeople were diagnosed in the last year alone, our work in supporting people living with the condition and helping to improve the care they receive is more important than ever.
We do not provide clinical care, however we work with the NHS across the North West to help improve care and outcomes for people living with diabetes. We do this through campaigning, sharing good practice, raising awareness, fundraising and funding research in the region.
Our work wouldn’t be possible without the support of our volunteers and the 40 groups scattered across the region supporting local people with the condition, giving information to people newly diagnosed and also keeping up to date with diabetes care through talks from diabetes specialists.
We also have six volunteer service champions, all living with diabetes who support local healthcare service to get services right and providing insight from the perspective of people living with the condition.
In addition we have a team of locally based regional fundraisers who support the incredible fundraising efforts of our many local fundraisers, providing supporters with specialist guidance on how to make the most their fundraising activities.
