Last year our team of Type 1 runners broke a world record at the JCP Swansea Half Marathon. This year, we want you to help us break it again!
We want to bring an even bigger team to the starting line on Sunday 23 June.
Why a world record?
The idea to set a world record came from volunteer Paul Coker. In 2017, Paul celebrated his 40th anniversary of living with Type 1 diabetes by completing 40 half marathons, finishing at the race in Swansea.
Paul is passionate about encouraging others with Type 1 diabetes to enjoy exercise, and that with the right attitude and support, anything is possible.
Creating a community
It’s not just about breaking a record: we want our Type 1 Team to inspire others and create a community of people who understand the challenges of life with Type 1 diabetes, and can support each other.
We have a number of guaranteed charity places in this year’s event, so make sure you register and then drop us a line at Wales@diabetes.org.uk with the email subject “Type 1 team”.
Open to everyone
You don’t have to have Type 1 diabetes to join #TeamDUK for this fantastic event.
Our charity places are open to anyone, so sign up today!
The JCP Swansea Half Marathon has twice been voted the best half marathon in the UK, with a fast, flat course, fun and friendly atmosphere and terrific crowd support.
Whether you are chasing a PB, a gentle jogger or want to set yourself your first ever 13.1-mile challenge, everyone is welcome.
See you on Sunday 23 June!
