Scottish Diabetes Advisory Council Recruitment

Help shape the future of diabetes in Scotland

Diabetes Scotland is seeking members for the newly established Scottish Diabetes Advisory Council (SDAC).

SDAC will bring together people with lived experience of diabetes alongside healthcare professionals, clinicians, researchers and policy experts from across Scotland. Acting as an independent advisory group and critical friend, the Council will provide expert insight, strategic challenge and informed recommendations to help shape Diabetes Scotland's priorities and maximise our impact across Scotland.

We are committed to building a Council that reflects the diversity of Scotland's diabetes community and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking applications from people with lived experience of diabetes, healthcare professionals, clinicians, researchers, academics and policy experts who are passionate about improving outcomes for people living with or at risk of diabetes in Scotland.

What members will do

  • Attend quarterly meetings
  • Provide strategic advice and challenge
  • Share expertise and lived experience
  • Contribute to policy and advocacy discussions
  • Support the development of Diabetes Scotland priorities

Member Commitment

  • Four meetings per year
  • Two-year term of office
  • Hybrid attendance
  • Preparation and reading between meetings
  • Voluntary role with expenses reimbursed

Those shortlisted will be invited to an informal Teams conversation. This will give us the chance to learn a little more about you, ask a few questions about your experience and interests, and most importantly, give you the opportunity to ask us questions too.

We want to make sure that joining SDAC is a good fit for you, and that you feel confident and excited about contributing your expertise, insights and experience to help shape the work of Diabetes Scotland.
