Our partnership with UK Power Networks

We’re delighted to announce our new corporate partnership with UK Power Networks, raising awareness of UK Power Networks’ Priority Services Register.

UK Power Networks is the electricity distribution network operator for London, the South East, and East of England. UK Power Networks is responsible for maintaining the health of the electricity cables, substations, and infrastructure that deliver power to homes and businesses in these regions. UK Power Networks ensures a safe, reliable supply of electricity, responds to power cuts, connects new properties to the network, and supports vulnerable customers through the Priority Services Register.

Every person living with diabetes is eligible to join the Priority Services Register, which offers free, tailored support during power cuts.

Everyone living with diabetes should feel confident that free support is available and that any power issues are treated as a priority. For many, keeping life-saving medication refrigerated is essential. That’s why registering for the Priority Services Register can make a real difference helping ensure you get the support you need, when you need it most.

Find out more about the Priority Services Register.

Our new partnership with UK Power Networks will help signpost to the Priority Services Register through our Helpline, community outreach and website, ensuring our community is informed and supported during power cuts, as well as providing training to UK Power Networks staff on diabetes.

We have strong, trusted relationships with communities most affected by health and energy inequity, and UK Power Networks recognised the urgent need to connect with vulnerable customers whose health depends on uninterrupted power such as those storing insulin or using life-saving medical devices.

With over eight million customers in their region, UK Power Networks’ reach offered a powerful platform to connect people with diabetes to free, life-saving support during power cuts, aligned to our ambition to tackle inequity among people living with or affected by diabetes.
