Tyler with his dad, Sean, having raised over £1,000

A few months ago my dad had to go into hospital because he was very poorly

"Hello

I'm Tyler and I'm 8 years old.

I would like to tell you why I have chosen to raise money for DUK.A few months ago my dad had to go into hospital because he was very poorly. The doctor said he had Type 1 diabetes and had to have insulin every single day for the rest of his life.

This made me feel really sad and scared because I didn't really know what diabetes was.

So, for my dad and everyone else that has diabetes I'm going to do a long walk from my house, past the football ground, through the high street and town, and then down the lake to go back home.Thank you for reading.

Love

Tyler"

Tyler raised an incredible £1,097.01

Above is Tyler's open letter to family, friends and his local community, telling them about his upcoming fundraiser and how he felt after his dad was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. It's as touching and sweet as it is inspirational.

Having organised a walk through his local town with the help of his parents, Tyler raised an incredible £1,097.01 for his "dad and everyone else that has diabetes".

Tyler was described by someone who donated to hisJustGiving pageas "probably the best son in Essex, or maybe the best in the UK", one things for sure is that mum, Stevie, and dad, Sean, couldn't agree more.

What a star.

If Tyler has inspired you to take on your own fundraising journey, order your fundraising pack and find out how you can make a difference to people affected by diabetes, your way.
