Phil Anderson, a 40-year-old financial advisor from Ellon in Aberdeenshire, took part in Swim22 in both 2015 and 2016. He said: “I chose swimming as it isn’t hard on your body. I found I could go at lunchtime and rattle off 40 to 64 lengths, bringing me a kilometre or a mile closer to reaching my total.”
Phil has raised over £1,000 for Diabetes UK, getting us a step closer to a future where diabetes can do no harm. For Phil, there were personal benefits to taking part. His fitness improved massively and he lost a lot of excess weight - from a starting point of 18st 9lbs, his weight fell to under 14st.
