Instead of lazing about during his summer holidays, Kai Mukiibi, a 7-year-old schoolboy from Wimbledon, threw himself into something much more productive.
In July, he set himself a challenge to cycle 100 miles over 20 days - all to raise money for Diabetes UK. Kai was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was five years old.
“Cycling 100 miles is a feat for any child, but having Type 1 diabetes makes it even more of an achievement. I'm so proud of Kai and am inspired by his ‘can-do’ attitude when facing the difficulties of living with Type 1.”

Completing his challenge along the Brighton coastline and around London, Kai raised over £1,500 and was also awarded a Blue Peter badge for his efforts. A fierce peddler, he is determined to keep on fundraising for Diabetes UK.
