Tracy's catalyst for getting fitter was her mum's death from diabetes-related complications
Tracy’s family has a history of Type 2 diabetes; her mother was diagnosed when she was in her early 30’s and unfortunately passed away in 2013 as a result of diabetes-related complications. She was 59 years old.
Seeing her mother’s health decline was the catalyst Tracy needed to make reducing the risk for both herself and her family her big priority. So Tracy decided to start running, giving herself the goal of achieving 10k by her 40th birthday.
Struggling to run, Tracy first took part in Swim22 – raising money for Diabetes UK so that no one else had to lose a family member as she had.
Since then, she has taken part intwo 10k runs, and is now planning to run the Cardiff half marathon – all in aid of Diabetes UK.
