Type 1 events

You’ll know that Type 1 diabetes is not simple. Diabetes UK’s Type 1 Events are designed to make life that little bit easier. They give children, teenagers, adults and families affected by Type 1 the chance to meet up, make friends, share experiences and learn from each other.

Type 1 events refresh

We've made the decision to pause our Type 1 events programme so we can carry out a refresh. This means we won’t be holding any Type 1 events for children, teenagers or families until autumn 2018.

We’ve been running Type 1 events for over 80 years – almost as long as we’ve existed as a charity. And we know what a difference they make to children, teenagers, families and adults living with Type 1 diabetes.

But we also know there are things we can improve to make our events even better. We’ve decided that we need to take some time out from running the events so we can focus on carrying out a full refresh.

What will the refresh involve?

We want to shape new and improved events that support, motivate and inspire everyone who attends. And we can't do that on our own. We'll be working with the volunteers who make these events possible, listening to their ideas and suggestions. And we'll be getting feedback from the families and adults who attend our event, to find out what's working and what we can improve to make our events the best they can be for people living with Type 1 diabetes.

We're excited about the opportunity to find new ways to support children, teenagers, families and adults through our Type 1 events programme. And we hope that when we do launch our improved Type 1 events, we'll be able to welcome you to one of them.

Any questions?

If you have any questions, please do get in touch by email events@diabetes.org.uk or phone.

All our Type 1 Events are supported by a team of volunteers who are healthcare professionals or have personal experiences of living with diabetes themselves or through family and friends.

Previously known as Care Events, our Type 1 Events have been giving people a safe and fun environment to get to grips with diabetes. We run residential events for children, family weekends and one day events for adults across the UK throughout the year.
