Type 1 Family Events offer children and young people with type 1 diabetes — and their families a chance to build confidence, share experiences, and feel less alone. These life-changing events wouldn’t be possible without our amazing volunteers.
Volunteers help families grow in confidence, learn more about type 1, and see that diabetes doesn’t have to hold them back.
Following a full review of our events programme, shaped by feedback from families, volunteers, and staff, we’re excited to pilot a new format in 2025: Type 1 Super Saturday—a one-day event for children aged 0–11 and their families.
Each Super Saturday includes:
- Tailored sessions for children, siblings, and parents/carers
- Time to connect, learn, and share
- A welcoming, supportive community
Volunteering at Type 1 Super Saturday has a powerful, lasting impact on families
By giving your time, you help children living with Type 1 diabetes feel confident, included and understood, often for the first time in a space designed just for them. Parents and carers regularly tell us that the reassurance, shared experience and human connection volunteers provide helps them feel less isolated and more confident in supporting their child. Whether you’re offering professional clinical expertise or simply bringing warmth, encouragement and energy, your presence helps families see that diabetes does not define or limit what’s possible — and that impact can stay with them long after the day itself.
