Type 1 Events

Our Type 1 Events are designed to be life-changing experiences for children and young people aged 0–11 living with type 1 diabetes. These events offer a safe, supportive, and fun environment where children can build confidence in managing their condition—while connecting with others who truly understand what life with type 1 is like.

We’ve recently completed a full review of our events programme to ensure we’re reaching as many families as possible, while making the best use of our limited resources. With valuable input from volunteers, families, and staff, we’ve developed a refreshed approach—and we’re excited to be piloting it later this year.

We’re excited to launch Type 1 Super Saturday—a brand-new, one-day family event, created with the whole family in mind, children and young people with type 1 aged 0–11, their siblings aged 0-16, and parents and carers.

Questions?

Places will be allocated randomly, with priority given to families who haven’t previously attended a Type 1 Event. We’re expecting to get a high volume of registrations. Anyone who registers but isn’t offered a place can choose to be placed on the waiting list in case a place becomes available.

We’re planning to run even more events in 2026 across the UK, aiming to deliver as many events as possible across the regions and nations each year. We’re still in the planning stages and will share more information about locations, dates, and how to register as soon as we can.

To stay up to date with the service changes and future events, you can register your interest online to receive our email updates.

Alternatively, there may be other Diabetes UK services that could support your family. You can find details of our helpline, local offices, and what's available in your area on our support for your section
