All the way from Australia to support a friend in Diabetes UK walking challenge

Kouros Majidi

Michael Middleton, 66, (pictured, right) from Adelaide, Australia is coming to take on the London Bridges Wellness Walk this September with his friend, our veteran supporter from Cambridge, Kouros Majidi (pictured, above), who lives with type 2 diabetes.

They met in Sidney watching football in 2010 and found out both were lifelong supporters of Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur.

Michael said:

"I first became aware of the challenge through my friend Kouros Majidi. At first, we started chatting on social media about our joint love of Tottenham Hotspur. I have been a keen bushwalker for 18 years and have trekked to the base of Mount Everest. Kouros and I talk a lot about walking, and I committed to the London Bridges challenge this year, extending my holiday to fit the walk in.

"I am now retired, so it wasn't a problem. I did the West Highland Way Rail and Hike trip through Macs Adventures earlier in July and am now touring the UK. I will be in Cambridge on 13 September to spend some time with Kouros prior to the walk."

Kouros has done the One Million Step Challenge for Diabetes UK three times, as well as 100 miles in a month, the Thames Path Walk and the London Bridges Walk.

A retired photographic technician, Kouros, 54, had heart surgery in 2009, a tireless walker and fundraiser, he has raised over £3,000 for Diabetes UK.
