'Jack Whitehall and Friends' raises money for us at charity comedy gig

Last night (Monday 19 December) comedian and actor Jack Whitehall took to the stage at the Savoy Theatre in London, to host a unique night of stand-up comedy in aid of Diabetes UK. 

Jack was joined on stage by a dazzling line-up of seven of the UK’s top comedians; Alan Carr, Thanyia Moore, Jimmy Carr, Laura Smyth, Russell Howard, Eshaan Akbar and Seann Walsh. Jack was also joined on stage by his parents, Hilary and Michael Whitehall.

‘Jack Whitehall and Friends’ raised vital funds for us and the sell-out gig was inspired by Jack’s girlfriend; model and Diabetes UK ambassador, Roxy Horner. Since Roxy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in May 2021, she has passionately supported Diabetes UK to raise awareness of what it’s like to live with the relentless condition.

Jack Whitehall said: 

“It has been great fun to bring some of my favourite comedians together at the Savoy Theatre to create this special evening in aid of Diabetes UK, a cause very close to both Roxy’s and my heart.
“After seeing how Diabetes UK has supported Roxy following her diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, we both wanted to do something special for the charity. I want to say thank you to everyone who performed, as well as everyone who came along to spend their last Monday before Christmas listening to me be rude about my parents.”

Roxy Horner said: 

“When I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in May 2021, it turned my world upside down. I’m so grateful for the support that Diabetes UK has given to me since my diagnosis – they have really helped me navigate all the confusion and stress that comes with finding out you have this life-changing condition.
“I’m so pleased Jack has been able to put together this incredible line-up to raise money to help the charity to fund diabetes research and support people like me who live with diabetes.”
