Diabetes UK’s website has been voted Best and Most Popular Non Profit site in the 2009 people’s choice Best Website of the Year awards.
This year, 259 websites were nominated in 18 categories. More than 800,000 votes were cast between 3 November and 8 December.
In each category there are two prizes to win: The title 'Best Website of the Year' is given to the website with the highest average score on content, navigation and design. The title 'Most Popular Website' is given to the website with the highest number of votes.
Other websites in the category included: Greenpeace.org.uk, Amnesty.org.uk, SavetheChildren.org.uk, RedCross.org.uk, bhf.org.uk, WWF.org.uk, NSPCC.org.uk, rednoseday.com, Unicef.org.uk, Oxfam.org.uk, and CancerResearchUK.org.
“We are delighted to have won this award, particularly as the competition was so fierce and so many people voted," said Amanda Neylon, Digital Media Manager at Diabetes UK.
“We aim to give our website visitors an informative, attractive and easy-to-navigate experience when they visit us and it’s fantastic to know that people appreciate our work.
"Thank you to everyone who voted.”
