Diabetes UK are delighted to announce that Jeya Henry from the School of Life Sciences at Oxford Brookes University has been selected as the Rank Nutrition Lecturer for the Annual Professional Conference in 2011.
Jeya has pioneered the testing of glycaemic index in readily available foods and food products in the UK and Europe, and he believes the results may impact on ways we look at preventing and managing Type 2 diabetes in the future.
The Rank Prize Funds
The Rank Prize Funds were set up in 1972 in order to foster Lord Rank's interests in the area of science in human and animal nutrition (because of his flour milling/bread business) and in opto-electronics (because of his films/cinema involvement).
The Rank Nutrition Lecture has so far featured twice on the Diabetes UK Annual Professional Conference Programme. In 2007 Stephen O’Rahilly produced a well-received lecture, and at the 2010 conference Susan Jebb proved a similar programme highlight, discussing research around maintaining weight loss.
