Strabane Diabetes Support Group meeting

The Strabane Diabetes Support Group meeting is taking place on Wednesday 1st April at 8.00pm at the Fir Trees Hotel in Strabane. Come along to find out more about diabetes and meet with other people living with the condition.

The group will welcome Emma Meneely from Roche Pharmaceuticals to talk about the recent developments in blood sugar monitoring, and will be happy to answer questions on the subject.

Olivia Bartlett, Volunteer Support Officer for Diabetes UK Northern Ireland, said, ‘Come along to our next meeting at the Fir Trees Hotel to hear all the latest about monitoring your diabetes. All of our groups are informal and friendly and provide the opportunity to ask questions in a welcoming environment as well as hearing from expert guest speakers.’

There are now nearly 100,000 people diagnosed with diabetes in Northern Ireland, 90% of whom have type 2 diabetes. In addition, there are 12,621 more people living with type 2 diabetes who don’t know they have it because they haven’t been diagnosed yet, bringing the total number up to 112,454.

If you would like more information about this then please contact the Diabetes UK Northern Ireland office on 028 9066 6646 or email NIvolunteering@diabetes.org.uk.
