Family Groups

A group of children stand in a semi-circle around a woman. They all have their hands on their hips as if they are dancing. They stand in front of a Diabetes UK desk and banner.

Living with diabetes in your family can be tough. But you're not alone. Joining a local peer support group for families lets you connect with others who understand.

These groups, run by volunteers who live with diabetes, offer support, information and organise events and activities for children and catch-ups for parents all year round for families just like yours.

See below a list of active family groups in Scotland and click on the name to head to their Facebook group page.

Or for more information, contact scotland@diabetes.org.uk

"Although I had my own family and friends who were great support, nobody else can understand what it's like living with a child with type 1 diabetes other than a parent or carer with a child with type 1 diabetes."
