South West Volunteering

Join us as a volunteer in the South West

From Land’s End to Lydney, Swindon to the Scilly Islands, our great team of over 400 volunteers are vital to everything we do here at Diabetes UK.

Every year our volunteers help hundreds of people find out their risk of developing diabetes; they give inspirational speeches, campaign for better services, help run local support groups, organise fun events and offer much needed support.

They are making a real difference to people living with diabetes. To find out more about how you can volunteer to help people with diabetes, please get in touch with our South West volunteering team:

Your local volunteering team:

Volunteering Outreach Manager, Gemma Jackson

I work across the South West region supporting volunteers as they learn new skills and grow in their roles, including running local groups and raising awareness. We train and develop volunteers so that they have the knowledge and confidence they need to help others and make a real difference to people affected by diabetes. There are so many ways you can get involved with us to really help others and become part of a fantastic team.

Please email gemma.jackson@diabetes.org.uk to get in touch.

Volunteering Outreach Manager, Verity McLelland

I am currently working on a six month project aiming to improve engagement and reach within BAME and lesser heard communities across our region. We want to understand people's needs and how best we can help to support those affected by, and at risk of, diabetes. I am currently focussing specifically on Bristol and Swindon and aim to recruit and train new volunteers who can be ambassadors in their community.

Please email verity.mclelland@diabetes.org.uk to get in touch.

Volunteer Support Officer, Naomi Pullin

It's always such a pleasure to meet the incredible people who are making a difference to people living with diabetes in their local community. We have lots of volunteering opportunities available, so please get in touch to find out more.

Please email naomi.pullin@diabetes.org.uk to get in touch.
