Volunteer induction sessions
New volunteers are invited to attend our induction sessions when joining Diabetes UK. This is your opportunity to meet with the Volunteering Team, our Volunteer Development Manager and Volunteering Support Officer based in our regional office.
During your induction, you will be finding out more about Diabetes UK as a charity, our past history and ambitions for the future, our strategy and values, what we do and how, as a volunteer, you will be vital to helping us achieve our aims.
There’s also the practical stuff to go through as well, which roles will suit you best, what is available in your area and how you can get involved.
This will be a three-hour afternoon session, 1pm – 4pm.
For more information, please contact Gemma Jackson.
Our Speaker Volunteers are vital to helping people find out what they need to know about diabetes and giving talks with the most up-to date information; what symptoms to look out for, how to best prevent developing diabetes and where to go for the correct advice and support.
We’ve seen a huge increase in requests for Speakers to attend events and meetings and are now looking to expand our team to keep up with demand.
If you are happy and confident speaking in public, sharing your knowledge and would like to join our speaker team, please register your interest for our training course.
To register, please contact Gemma Jackson for more information.
We are keen to recruit a team of volunteers in the Bristol and Swindon areas to reach out to local Muslim communities, visit Mosques and Community Centers to give talks, hand out information and support Muslims with managing their diabetes during Ramadan.
Please contact Gemma Jackson for more information. We will arrange training in your area when you are available.
