Primary school pupils step it up for Diabetes UK Cymru

We were very pleased to visit Llangynidr Primary School in Powys to say thank you to some fantastic fundraisers.

Pupils from the school took part in this year’s One Million Step Challenge, along with their friends and families.

Their team, The Pounders, raised more than £4,000 in total – making them one of the top fundraising teams in the whole of the UK.

Top teamwork

The Pounders took part in the Challenge to raise funds and raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes, in support of a fellow pupil, Lottie, and her mum, Lucy, who both have the condition.

They organised walks throughout the summer and held a special celebration when they reached the one million mark.

Raising awareness

It was fantastic to visit the school to say well done and present them with their well-earned certificates.

It was also a great opportunity to speak to the children about Type 1 diabetes and help them learn more about the symptoms.

Thank you so much to The Pounders for their epic efforts.

If they’ve inspired you to fundraise for Diabetes UK Cymru, find out how you can get involved here.
