Researchers at York St. John University would like to recruit people:
- aged 18 or over;
- who identify as having a disability or a health condition (such as diabetes) that they may consider to be disabling;
- and/or identify as neurodivergent
to take part in a study exploring people's experiences of questionnaires that assess eating disorders in research and care settings.
Some people living with diabetes can develop an unhealthy relationship or fixation on food. This can lead to disordered eating behaviour or an eating disorder - but this may not be picked up on in care because current questionnaires have not been designed to capture such unique experiences.
The study aims to evaluate if two common questionnaires used to assess whether someone has an eating disorder are suitable for this population.
If interested in participating, we'll ask you to fill out an online survey to provide some demographic information. Then we'll ask that you complete two questionnaires that address your experience of body image and eating thoughts and behaviours.
