Researchers at King’s College London are inviting people to take part in a research study exploring how older adults with type 2 diabetes, their carers, and healthcare professionals perceive and experience the deprescribing of diabetes medications.
The study aims to understand the factors that influence attitudes, decision-making, and communication around reducing or stopping diabetes medications when appropriate. The findings will be used to support the development of a co-designed intervention involving people with type 2, carers, and healthcare professionals to improve safer and more person-centred medication prescribing practices.
People can take part if they are:
- aged 60 years and above;
- diagnosed with type 2 diabetes;
- fluent in English;
- able to provide informed consent;
- living in their own home or with family/friends in the community;
- willing and able to take part in a 60-90 minute focus group.
Carers may also take part if they are actively involved in the participant’s diabetes care or medication management.
Participants will be invited to take part in a focus group and/or co-design workshop, lasting approximately 60-90 minutes. Sessions will take place either online or face-to-face, depending on participant preference. No preparation is required before taking part.
