Probiotic Impact on Cognitive Performance and Metabolic Outcomes in Overweight Young Adults with Impaired Glucose Regulation (Pro-Cog Trial)

Researchers at Leeds Beckett University would like to recruit adults:

  • aged 18-35 years;
  • with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25.0-29.9 kg/m²;
  • with normal sleep patterns;
  • with no diagnosis of diabetes (a diagnosis of prediabetes is still eligible);
  • with no significant medical, mental health, or digestive conditions

to take part in their study examining whether a daily probiotic supplement can improve thinking skills and blood sugar-related health in people at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Eligibility will be checked via a short online questionnaire and confirmed at an in-person screening visit. Taking part involves attending five laboratory visits, completing health and thinking assessments, and taking a daily supplement over 12 weeks.

Participants will be compensated £100 for their time.
