Towards the end of last year Johnson & Johnson (J&J) made the decision to discontinue manufacturing the Animas insulin pump and exit the insulin pump market globally. The decision took place with immediate effect in the US with users transitioning over to Medtronic.
This process, however, took longer to happen in the UK and Ireland and the company has now made the decision to discontinue its production with Medtronic as their preferred partner to facilitate the transition to their insulin pump delivery systems. In the interim, people whose current Animas pumps are still under warranty will receive the same level of customer care from J&J.
Johnson & Johnson has also set up a customer support line on 0800 028 8039 and 1800 812 715 for Ireland to answer any question you or your patients can contact.
