The termis now seen frequently in health services policy, practice and academic literature. However, little research has investigated whatandthe delivery of compassionate care, from the perspective of healthcare professionals.
Researchers at the University of Warwick are conducting a qualitative study on this topic, using Type 2 diabetes as an exemplar condition. Findings will highlight barriers to compassionate care and how these might be tackled. They will also allow researchers to explore what healthcare professionals have found works well and to share this knowledge with others.
