We are delighted to announce that Clinical Champion Dr Jason Cheung and his team, the Norwich Inpatient Diabetes Service, have been shortlisted for the Quality Improvement award by the prestigious Excellence in Patient Care Awards.
The Quality Improvement award celebrates projects that have implemented systematic change in order to achieve a measurable improvement in the quality of healthcare services, patient care or health outcomes.
The Norwich Inpatient Diabetes team have been recognised for their project: Norwich Inpatient Diabetes Service (NIPDS): Supporting staff, empowering patients, preventing glycaemic harms.
Jason described how the Clinical Champions programme has given him a wider view on agendas, systems, and ways of work, increasing his ability to deal with difficult problems, especially in areas of management and leadership. The Clincal Champion role has led to more recognition and opened doors, in turn helping his self-confidence: "I have been more honest to myself, and others working close with me. It has helped me to gain extra insights into putting people with diabetes into the centre of our care, and supporting my colleagues to achieve this common goal together as a team."
The virtual Excellence in Patient Care Awards ceremony is taking place on 26 May.
