Changes to the GP contract mean practices in England must make available online the facility for patients to book appointments, order repeat prescriptions and view a summary (as a minimum) of their medical records. The RCGP has worked in partnership with NHS England to produce a toolkit specifically designed to guide GPs and practice staff to offer online services.
The Patient Online Practice Toolkit contains practical guidance and elearning on topics like identity verification, records access, proxy access and coercion, as well as advice on getting started with online appointments and repeat prescriptions.
