Nurse Consultant, Redbridge and Waltham Forest CCGs

Debbie Cook has been a Diabetes and Obesity Nurse Consultant since 2010. She works across both Redbridge and Waltham Forest CCGs in North East London as a diabetes nurse specialist.

She's involved with the local diabetes community specialist services, as well as working on the obesity and diabetes local strategies.

Previously a trustee, Debbie has been the Vice-Chair of the National Obesity Forum since 2012. She also works as a Nurse Consultant at the Center for Health and Human Performance in Harley Street. 

Since 2009 Debbie has been an active member of the Diabetes Think Tank at Westminster, calling for government action on diabetes, and she is also a judge for the QiC (Quality in care diabetes awards) for the past 3 years.

She recently attained an MSc in diabetes at Leicester University. She has written two books and has published several articles on diabetes and obesity. A vocal and passionate advocate for enhancing diabetes care across the nation by empowering patients to self-manage their own often very complex conditions,

Debbie is delighted to have been appointed as a Clinical Champion and hopes to push forward innovative projects across all sectors of the community, recognising that diabetes as a long term condition affects individuals as members of their health economy in a myriad of ways, often requiring complex answers and creative solutions.
